King Penguin

Aptenodytes patagonicus

The King Penguin is the second largest of the 18 penguin species. Only the emperor penguin is bigger.
King Penguins lay one egg and the chick is raised by the male and the female together. The egg is hatched by both the male and female in turn having the egg on their feet with
a skin fold covering it. The penguin, which does not care for the egg, is in charge of finding food for itself and its mate. When the egg hatches, the young is taken care of for up to a year.

King Penguins can stay under water for up to 20 minutes, they can dive deeper than 300 metres and some swim up to 900 km to catch food.
