Three king penguins currently have a small box attached to their backs. It is a tiny computer that monitors what the penguins are doing when we are not around. For example, we can see how much time they spend sleeping or swimming, and we can find out whether a young penguin uses its time differently from an older one. In this way, we and the researchers at the University of Southern Denmark can learn even more about these animals and gain a better understanding of how age affects penguins in the wild.
