The zebra belongs to the same genus as the horse and resembles it in many ways. The stallions are territorial, meaning that they defend an area from other zebras. In other zebra species, the stallions move with their harem of mares across vast areas that sometimes overlap the territories of other stallions.
They live on the African savannahs where they follow the rainy season, wandering from one place to another in search of the tall, tough grass they prefer.
