The ostrich is the largest bird in the world. Although it cannot fly, it can run very fast – up to 65 km an hour.
The ostrich egg is the largest in the world. It weighs up to 1.5 kg and is the equivalent of about 25 chicken eggs.
Despite the large size of the adult, the ostrich egg is not very big, relatively speaking, compared to the relative size of other birds to their eggs.
The story of ostriches trying to hide by sticking their head in a bush is a myth.
