Height: 145–150cm
Habitat: Tropical and subtropical Africa in wet grassland, swampland and lakes. 
Sexual maturity: 3 years
Incubation period: 30–35 days
Number of eggs per clutch: 1–5, usually 2–3
Food: Primarily fish (up to 500 g), yet also crabs, shrimp, mussels, frogs, reptiles, small mammals and young birds.
The saddle-billed stork is the largest stork in the world with a wingspread of 2.7 m. The yellow “saddle” on its bill makes it easy to identify. The females have yellow eyes, the males brown.
The stork finds its prey by sticking its bill quickly into the water or by searching through muddy water to find prey by feeling its way to anything that moves.
