Fisher’s lovebirds differ from other members of the parrot family by building nests inside the nest hole. They build their nest out of strips of plants on which they lay the eggs. When the offspring are about one month old, they leave the nest but are fed by the parents for another two weeks before they can survive on their own. The name ‘lovebird’ comes from the close mutual connection of the mates and from the frequency with which they preen each other’s feathers.
