Little is known about the snow leopard’s way of life in the wild. It lives in impassable mountainous terrain at elevations of up to 5000 metres. This is very rugged countryside, even for snow leopards. As a result, few snow leopards live in one area compared to similarly sized cats in comparative territories.
The snow leopard is a fantastic jumper and can jump a distance of 15 metres when hunting.
When it jumps, it steers with its long tail in order to hit its prey on the mark.
