Habitat: Lives in tropical and subtropical Africa, primarily sub-Sahara. It has adapted to many different biotopes, such as open grasslands, savannahs, plains and in woodland fringe areas. It often lives near farmland.

Food: Omnivorous. Grass seeds, roots, plant bulbs, berries, flowers, grasshoppers, termites, snails, ticks, and more.

Some nests have been found to contain up to 50 eggs. This large number are assumed to have been laid by several females.
The helmeted guineafowl has a characteristic “helmet” on top of its naked head.
They spend most of their daylight hours searching for food. During the daytime, they stay on the ground walking around in flocks, but fly into the trees in evening to find safety from the many carnivores.
