Emperor Tamarin
Saguinus imperator subgrisescens
Emperor tamarins and other marmosets have claws, instead of nails (like larger primates and humans). This adaptive feature of small primates enables them to live in the crowns of trees where they can dig their nails into the bark and hold on tight. Many tamarins living in South American rain forests are endangered due to extensive timber felling.
