Giant Tortoise (Aldabra Giant Tortoise)

The only habitats of the Aldabra Tortoise are the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean and the Aldabra Atoll in the Indian Ocean. Over the last two centuries, explorers have simply devoured several tortoise populations, thereby causing the extinction of many species. The tortoises were taken on board and kept alive for up to two months without receiving any food or water. The tortoises provided the sailors with fresh meat on the voyage.
